Biesenthal, Administrative division in Brandenburg, Germany.
Biesenthal is a town on the Finow River in Brandenburg, situated about 31 kilometers northeast of Berlin. The place lies within the Barnim Nature Park and spreads across flat terrain with forests and meadows.
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1258 as Bizdal, and it received market rights in 1315. The medieval castle and location on the Via Imperii trade route show its importance as a market town and fortified settlement.
The town center is defined by a fieldstone church from the 13th century that still shapes the character of the place today. This building and its surroundings show how important faith was to the development of the settlement.
The Berlin-Stettin railway line connects Biesenthal with Berlin and other places in the region, making it easy to reach. The flat terrain and good network of paths make the area easy to explore.
The Kaiser-Friedrich tower was built in 1907 on the remains of the medieval castle and offers views over the Biesenthal Basin. This observation tower is a distinctive landmark of the town.
