Wasserburg

Wasserburg extends over 6.5 square kilometers on a peninsula at the northern shore of Lake Constance, housing approximately 3,600 residents.

The settlement began as a fortress in 784 under the name 'wazzarburuc', serving as a refuge for the monastery lords of Sankt Gallen during the 10th century.

The Renaissance castle, constructed between 1537 and 1555, stands alongside St. Georg's Church with its Gothic architecture and Baroque high altar featuring Saint Gallus and Otmar.

The municipality maintains a fishing harbor, sport boat docks, and the Aquamarin swimming pool with a surf school for summer activities.

Wasserburg's classification as a Luftkurort certifies its superior air quality through regular testing, allowing the collection of health resort taxes from overnight visitors.
