Eschede, Municipality in Lower Saxony, Germany.

Eschede is a municipality in Lower Saxony located northeast of Celle, stretching across rolling countryside near the Südheide Nature Park. The area consists of numerous small villages set within a quiet, forested region.

The area was long shaped by forests and moorlands before settlements developed over the centuries. A major forest fire in 1975 permanently altered parts of the landscape and remains a significant event in the region's memory.

The area is shaped by rural traditions and farming that continue to influence daily life today. In the scattered villages, you can see how the communities remain connected to the land and to farming practices.

The area is best explored by car, as the villages are spread out and public transportation is limited. Visitors should allow time to enjoy the quiet roads and take advantage of proximity to Südheide Nature Park.

Artist Albert König, whose works can be seen in a nearby museum, was born here and developed his career as a painter in the 19th century. His connection to this landscape shaped his artistic vision throughout his life.
