Neugersdorf, District within Ebersbach-Neugersdorf, Saxony, Germany

The district grew through the textile industry, which attracted workers from neighboring Czech towns starting in the 1700s. This connection to textile manufacturing shaped its economy until industrial decline arrived in the later 20th century.
The Jacobimarkt, founded in 1728, continues to draw visitors from Germany and the Czech Republic and remains one of the region's largest traditional markets. People from both countries meet here to shop and celebrate local customs together.
The area connects to regional transportation through several bus lines and the Bischofswerda-Zittau railway line. These connections make it easy to travel to other parts of Upper Lusatia and neighboring areas.
One of the two source streams of the Spree River begins here before flowing all the way to Berlin. Seeing where a major river starts its journey is often unexpected for visitors.
