Sachsenring, Motorsport racing circuit in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Germany
Sachsenring is a permanent motorsport racing track in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Germany. The course winds through several elevation changes and offers thirteen corners over a length of approximately 3.7 kilometers (2.3 miles).
Racing first took place here in 1927 on public roads, covering a distance of more than eight kilometers at the time. The current facility was built in 1996 when the course was converted from a street circuit into a permanent track.
The track takes its name from the Saxon region and draws motorsport enthusiasts from across Germany each year. The grandstands fill particularly during the summer motorcycle Grand Prix, when spectators watch riders navigate the tight corners.
The nearest train station is Hohenstein-Ernstthal, from where visitors can walk or take a bus to the track. Several parking areas around the facility make access easier by car via the A4 motorway.
Rider Marc Marquez won eleven consecutive races here between 2010 and 2021, a feat no other rider managed at this track. This streak made the course one of his most successful throughout his entire career.
