Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opera house in Charlottenburg, Germany
Deutsche Oper Berlin stands as a modernist structure with a rectangular form and large glass panels in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin.
The original opera building from 1912 was destroyed during World War II, leading to the construction of the current structure by Fritz Bornemann in 1961.
The opera house presents over 250 performances each season, featuring classical operas, contemporary works, and performances by the Berlin State Ballet.
Visitors can purchase the Deutsche Oper Card for 75 euros, which provides a 30 percent discount on selected performances throughout the season.
The building contains 1865 seats arranged in a democratic layout, ensuring every spectator has clear sight lines to the stage without traditional box seats.

Circular architecture has fascinated builders since ancient times. This collection brings together Roman amphitheatres like the Colosseum, medieval towers such as the Round Tower in Copenhagen, baroque domed structures and modern constructions. The circular form offers practical advantages for acoustic properties, structural stability and optimal space usage. The selected buildings serve various functions: religious temples, fortifications, observatories, museums and event venues. Each example demonstrates how architects have adapted the circular form to local conditions and cultural requirements. From ancient stone structures to contemporary skyscrapers, this selection documents technical evolution across centuries.
