Nikolaikirche

The twin-spired brick church features Gothic architecture with an 84-meter height, distinguished by its cross-ribbed vaults and pointed arches throughout the structure.

The building dates to 1230 as Berlin's first parish church, surviving through centuries before its transformation into a museum after extensive reconstruction in 1987.

The church served as the performance venue for composer Johann Cruger and minister Paul Gerhardt, who created numerous Lutheran hymns in the 17th century.

The museum opens daily from 10:00 to 18:00, offering guided tours, concerts, and exhibitions about Berlin's medieval history through architectural models and artifacts.

The church bells, cast in bronze during the 17th century, remain functional and ring during special occasions, maintaining their original medieval tones.
