The Christmas market occupies five central locations in Augsburg, including Rathausplatz, Martin-Luther-Platz, Philippine-Welser-Strasse, Maximilianstrasse, and the area near Moritzkirche.
Dating back to the 15th century, the Augsburg Christmas Market received its official name 'Christkindlesmarkt' in 1949, making it one of Germany's earliest holiday traditions.
Local musical groups, including the Augsburg Drehorgelorchester and Aretsrieder Bläsergruppe, perform traditional songs throughout the market's duration from late November to December.
The market operates from November 25 to December 24, with stalls open Sunday through Thursday from 10:00 to 20:00, and Friday and Saturday until 21:30.
The daily Advent calendar presentation takes place at 16:45, where a new window opens each day, incorporating themes that connect with local citizens.
