Dorint Hotel Tower, Modern skyscraper hotel in Augsburg, Germany
Dorint Hotel Tower is a modern skyscraper with a distinctive cylindrical shape rising 115 meters above Augsburg in 35 stories. The building combines a hotel with 184 rooms and suites alongside residential apartments in a single structure.
The structure was built in 1972 originally as a Holiday Inn, coinciding with the Munich Olympic Games. It has changed owners several times over the decades and was eventually redeveloped as the Dorint Hotel.
Local residents call the building 'corn cob' because of its distinctive cylindrical shape with bulging sections along its surface. This nickname has stuck for decades and reflects how the tower has become part of the city's character.
The hotel offers 13 meeting rooms with approximately 750 square meters of space and modern facilities for gatherings up to 300 people. Its central location in Augsburg provides easy access to business districts and public transportation.
The tower features an antenna extending to approximately 167 meters, making the structure one of Bavaria's ten tallest constructions. This extra element is visible from various angles across the city and defines part of the skyline.
