Aussichtsturm Dietzenbach

Aussichtsturm Dietzenbach, Observation tower in Dietzenbach, Germany.

Aussichtsturm Dietzenbach is a 33-meter-tall steel structure with a rotating upper section that sits in the landscape of Regionalpark Rhein-Main like a large hoop. The observation platform at about 21 meters high provides an unobstructed view over the surrounding area and beyond.

The structure was built in 2001 during the Hessentag festival and has since marked a location on Wingertsberg hill. Its creation coincided with a time when the Rhein-Main region was reshaping its public spaces and setting new landmarks in the landscape.

The tower carries the name 'Ballet of Movement' and expresses the spirit of this town through its distinctive hula hoop-like shape. The name reflects an idea of how the structure engages with nature and seems to animate the landscape around it.

Steps lead to the observation platform, which offers open views in clear weather but closes during rain, storms, or icy conditions. It is wise to wait for good weather and wear sturdy shoes, since conditions at this exposed height can be changeable.

The site sits at the highest point in Offenbach district and appears in the city's official emblems and symbols. The upper section rotates continuously with the wind, making this place a constantly changing sign against the sky.
