Rheydt, Administrative district in Mönchengladbach, Germany.
Rheydt is an administrative district in Mönchengladbach, North Rhine-Westphalia, within the Düsseldorf region. The district includes residential neighborhoods, commercial streets and its own railway station with regional connections.
The settlement grew as an independent city with textile manufacturing and engineering industries until 1975. Incorporation into Mönchengladbach happened during the municipal reforms in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The Renaissance palace Schloss Rheydt displays furniture, decorative arts and architectural details from the 16th century. Visitors can walk through the preserved rooms and view the interior fittings from that era.
Rheydt Hauptbahnhof connects the district to other cities in North Rhine-Westphalia through regional and long-distance trains. The area around the station offers access to shops and local bus lines for onward travel within the city.
The district has one of two main stations named Hauptbahnhof within the same city of Mönchengladbach. This feature arose from the long independence of Rheydt before the municipal reorganization.
