Burg- und Nieder-Gemünden station, Railway station and cultural heritage monument in Gemünden, Germany
Burg- und Nieder-Gemünden station is a railway station on the Vogelsberg Railway line with two platforms at kilometer 38.0. The facility serves the two districts and functions as a stopping point on the local transport network.
The station was built in 1870 as part of the Grünberg-Alsfeld section of the Vogelsberg Railway. It served as a junction with the Kirchhain-Nieder-Gemünden line from 1901 until that route closed in 1991.
The station building reflects the architectural style of the Grand Duchy of Hesse State Railways and is protected as a cultural monument today. Visitors can see the characteristic design elements from this railway era in its structure.
The station is easy to reach by car and has parking nearby for visitors. Access to the platforms is well marked, and there are waiting areas with basic facilities.
The station lost its junction status in 1999 after the Ohm Valley Railway line was dismantled. Today it is a simple halt, yet the historical importance remains visible in the building's structure.
