Hungen station is a railway station and cultural heritage monument in Hungen featuring traditional German architecture. The building has multiple platforms and tracks that serve trains traveling between several towns in the region.
The station opened in 1869 and marked the beginning of rail service on the line between Giessen and Gelnhausen. A year later, rail service was extended further to Nidda.
The station building is maintained by the town of Hungen and shows how a 19th-century railway station looked. Traditional German railway architecture is still visible in the structure today.
The station receives regular train service connecting several towns in the surrounding area. Bus connections are also available from the station to nearby communities for additional travel options.
During World War II, American forces discovered a large hidden collection of looted books and prints in this area that had been taken from various libraries. The collection had been concealed and contained valuable works from several European museums and archives.
