Ave Maria

Ave Maria is a baroque pilgrimage church with monastery buildings in Deggingen, constructed between 1716 and 1718. The interior impresses with elaborate stucco decorations, a high altar shaped like a monstrance, and numerous angel figures throughout.

The church was built in the early 1700s as a pilgrimage destination following the baroque architectural style of the region. A Capuchin monastery with matching design was added later, completing the religious complex.

The name reflects devotion to Mary through prayer and veneration, which is evident throughout the ornate interior decorations. Religious imagery and embellishments fill the space, expressing deep faith in every corner.

The church is accessible year-round with varying hours depending on the season. Visitors should allow time to examine the rich interior details carefully and wear appropriate clothing for indoor exploration.

Inside is a large Christmas crib made from natural materials featuring forty handcrafted figures from Sicily and a small stream with goldfish. This elaborate artwork was created over many years and draws visitors who appreciate such intricate displays.
