Bavariabuche, Historic beech tree in Altmannstein, Germany
Bavariabuche was a European beech tree that stood on a gentle hill near Altmannstein, with a wide-spreading crown and thick branches. The tree grew there for generations and shaped the local landscape.
The tree developed over centuries at its location and became a recognized landmark for the region. In 2013, a severe summer storm destroyed it completely.
Local residents regularly gathered at the Bavariabuche for seasonal celebrations and community events, making it a central meeting point for generations.
The site of the former tree can be reached on foot from Altmannstein and offers views of the surrounding landscape. The location continues to be used for gatherings and events, even though the tree itself no longer exists.
Before its destruction, this tree was one of Germany's most photographed trees and appeared in many regional publications. Its distinctive shape made it a recognizable symbol of the area.
