St. Peter und Paul

St. Peter und Paul is a Baroque church with white and red exterior walls and an interior ceiling decorated with elaborate frescoes. The building displays typical late Baroque proportions and architectural details characteristic of early 18th century design.

The church was built between 1730 and 1732 by Mainz engineer Johann Farolsky, replacing an earlier religious structure. The new building reflected the prosperity and artistic vision of 18th century religious communities.

The frescoes show scenes from the apostles' lives and were painted by Johann Baptist Enderle in 1775. They represent a rare example of late Baroque art in the region.

The building stands at Kirchstraße 27 and is easy to recognize from the street. Access to the interior may be limited to certain times, so checking opening hours in advance is helpful.

The ceiling frescoes underwent specialized restoration after suffering damage from wood preservatives applied in the 1950s. This careful conservation work shows how important such artworks are for preserving the church's heritage.
