Église Saint-Jacques à Stralsund, Gothic church in Stralsund, Germany
The Saint James Church stands 68 meters tall with red brick walls, featuring a western tower and a straight choir section within its basilica structure.
First mentioned in documents from 1303, the church underwent construction phases throughout the 14th century, with local citizens donating thousands of bricks for its completion.
The building serves as a cultural center since 2003, hosting theater performances, concerts, exhibitions, and various cultural events throughout the year.
Located in the center of Stralsund's old town, the church opens Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 to 16:30 during summer and Monday through Friday in winter.
After World War II damage, the church transformed from religious use into an archive and art storage before becoming a cultural venue with space for 500 visitors.
