Buchheim Museum of Imagination

The Museum of Imagination sits on the shores of Lake Starnberg, with a modern building design that extends over the water like a ship.

The museum opened in 2001 after local residents in Feldafing rejected the initial location, leading to its establishment in Bernried am Starnberger See.

The collection includes German expressionist art from Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Emil Nolde, and Otto Dix, alongside African and Asian artifacts from global travels.

Visitors can reach the museum by train, car, or boat, and enjoy guided tours, workshops, art education programs, and refreshments at Café Buffi.

The building features a jetty-like balcony stretching over Lake Starnberg, while the surrounding park displays outdoor sculptures throughout the grounds.
