Burg Hohenfriedingen

Burg Hohenfriedingen is a hilltop castle in Singen sitting at 547 meters above sea level. It features a polygonal ring wall with strong flanking walls that protect the main entrance.

The site was first documented in 914 under King Conrad I, with the Lords of Friedingen building the structure between 1170 and 1180. The fortress endured destruction and was rebuilt several times throughout its existence.

The castle reflects regional medieval fortress building methods visible in its layout and construction. Visitors can observe how the defensive design shaped the way the structure was organized.

During summer months, visitors can enjoy food and drinks at a beer garden located in the castle courtyard. The site is accessible and offers space to rest while taking in views of the surrounding landscape.

The castle was destroyed and rebuilt multiple times, notably during regional conflicts and wars that affected Central Europe. These repeated cycles of destruction and reconstruction shaped how it appears today.
