Burgstall Warberg, Archaeological castle ruins near Neunburg vorm Wald, Germany
The remains of Burgstall Warberg occupy a 150 by 50 meter ridge on the Warenberg mountain, standing 180 meters above the Ascha river valley.
Countess Adelheid of Warberg donated her estate to Ensdorf monastery around 1138, marking the first documented reference to this medieval fortification.
Archaeological excavations between 1991 and 1993 revealed architectural elements including wall traces and a water well, now preserved as a cultural heritage monument.
The castle ruins are accessible through hiking paths from Neunburg vorm Wald, with tourist information available at the local visitor center.
Granite blocks with carved door frames remain visible among the eastern section of the ridge, providing evidence of the original castle architecture.
