Burgstall Wichsenstein

Burgstall Wichsenstein is a medieval castle site in Gößweinstein built on a natural rock formation, showing foundation stones and wall remnants. The remains reveal the typical layout of a small fortification positioned on high ground for defense and observation.

The castle likely originated in the 12th century and remained occupied until the 15th century, according to archaeological evidence. It was one of many small fortifications that dotted the medieval landscape of Franconian Switzerland.
