Burg Theater, Cinema and bar in Burg, Germany

Burg Theater is a cinema with an integrated bar located in central Burg, where various films screen multiple times per week. The projections use modern digital technology to ensure good image quality.

Engineer Otto Wohlfahrt opened the Walhalla cinema in 1908, but it burned down in 1910. He then built a purpose-designed cinema at Magdeburger Straße 4, which opened on 3 June 1911 as the Palast-Theater. From 1955 to 1991 it was called Theater des Friedens, and after reunification it took the name Burg Theater. In 1997 long-time employee Wilfried Schlaak took over the building and operation from Ufa.

The theater shows a mix of international films and German productions that change weekly for its audience. Beyond standard screenings, it also hosts recorded concerts and literary readings paired with films, making it a space where different cultural experiences come together.

The box office opens at 11:00 on weekdays and 13:00 on weekends, with tickets available to book online or through a mobile app. It helps to check the current program schedule in advance to secure a good seat.

The cinema's entrance hall displays old projectors and spotlights alongside information on its history. Since April 2014 it has screened both digital and analog films, using a Christie digital projector and a Czech Meo 5X 35-mm projector from the 1970s.
