Wittelsbacher-Tower

Wittelsbacher Tower is a stone observation structure on Scheinberg hill, rising 33 meters above the surrounding area. The construction combines limestone and green sandstone, with a viewing platform positioned about 25 meters up.

The tower was built in 1907 and was intended to honor the Bavarian ruling dynasty. Its construction reflected a period when such monuments were commonly erected throughout the region.

The tower takes its name from the Wittelsbach dynasty that ruled Bavaria for centuries. From the viewing platform, visitors can see how the surrounding landscape and town spread out below.

Access to the viewing platform involves climbing a spiral staircase inside the tower. It is best to visit the neighboring restaurant and brewery, which can provide assistance and refreshments.

The green sandstone used in parts of the tower comes from local quarries and gives it a distinctive appearance. This stone was traditionally a common building material in the area and contributes to the monument's individual character.
