Burkhardtsmühle, Historic watermill in Waldenbuch, Germany
The Burkhardtsmühle stands at the junction of Reichenbach and Aich rivers, forming part of the eleven mills in Siebenmühlental near Stuttgart at 340 meters elevation.
Friedrich Burkhardt constructed the mill in 1831 as a sawmill and hemp pulper, initially naming it Untere Sägemühle before it became known as Burkhardtsmühle in 1893.
The mill housed theatrical performances from 1968, with a local theater group establishing the Komede-scheuer before relocating to Mäulesmühle in 1974.
Since 2010, the mill operates as a Greek restaurant serving both Greek and Swabian cuisine, with opening hours from Monday to Saturday for lunch and dinner.
In 1962, the state criminal police of Baden-Württemberg used the mill area for an anti-terror exercise, recording it as a training film featuring fictional terrorist headquarters.
