Danny’s Pan, Music venue in Hammerbrook, Germany
Danny's Pan was a music venue housed in a cellar space of the Kontorhaus Leder-Schüler building on Heidenkampsweg in Hamburg-Mitte. The club provided a performance space for musicians of different genres.
The club was founded in 1962 in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel and relocated to its better-known Hammerbrook location in 1966. It remained a central gathering place for musicians until it closed in 1982.
The venue served as a meeting place for Hamburg's folk movement and drew artists like Reinhard Mey, Alexandra, and Udo Lindenberg to perform. Visitors could experience live performances that shaped the city's music culture.
The venue was located below ground level, so visitors should expect limited natural light and a more intimate setup with restricted capacity. Access was through the main building, giving it a somewhat hidden location.
The founder Danny Marino translated songs by Georges Brassens and Jacques Brel into German, shaping how these artists were understood in Germany. This translation work helped bring French folk music to German audiences in new ways.
