Comeniusstraße 32, Dresden, Heritage villa in Johannstadt district, Dresden, Germany

This villa in Johannstadt is a two-story residence from the early 20th century with sandstone elements on its facades. Inside, elaborately designed wooden ceilings feature inlaid details and artistic ironwork railings on the stairs.

The villa was built in 1906 by architect Heinrich Tscharmann and later served as a residence for a high-ranking Nazi official. The building experienced multiple functional changes and has housed commercial spaces since 1998.

The building displays Baroque revival features with decorative sculptures created by renowned sculptor Karl Groß. Interior spaces designed by Oswin Hempel show craftsmanship visible in the present day.

The building is easily accessible in a mixed residential area and can be viewed from the street. Since commercial tenants now occupy the interior spaces, visiting inside depends on the current occupants' access policies.

In 1943, a private reinforced concrete bunker was constructed in the garden, one of the few civilian shelters of its kind in the city. This underground space reflects how the wealthy residents of the city experienced everyday wartime conditions.
