German Phono Museum

The German Phono Museum is a collection of record players, phonographs, and sound devices from different periods of recording technology. The objects show how this technology developed from early mechanical devices to modern electrical systems.

The museum was founded in 1972 when two private collections from local sound enthusiasts were brought together. This merger made it possible to create a comprehensive archive of recording technology history.

The exhibition shows how sound equipment was made in this Black Forest town and what role it played in people's daily lives. Visitors can see how closely the development of these devices was connected to the region's craftsmanship traditions.

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, giving visitors time to explore the exhibits at a relaxed pace. The best time to visit is outside weekends when there are fewer people around.

The collection includes Dual brand devices that were manufactured in this town and became known worldwide. Visitors can see how local craftspeople perfected and exported this technology.
