Dorfkirche Alt-Tegel, Protestant church in Tegel, Germany.
Dorfkirche Alt-Tegel is a Protestant church in Berlin's Reinickendorf district featuring Romanesque Revival architecture with sandstone decoration throughout. A bronze entrance door decorated with ornamental designs by metalworker Ottomar Holdefleiss and seating for approximately 600 people are key features of the building.
The building was constructed between 1911 and 1912 by architect Jürgen Kröger to replace three earlier church structures at the site. A wooden church from the 1240s stood here first, showing that this location has been a place of worship for over 700 years.
The church serves as a gathering place for the Protestant community with regular services throughout the year. The old cemetery on the grounds holds graves of people who shaped Berlin's history over centuries.
The church is located in Berlin's Reinickendorf district and is accessible by public transportation. Note that the building closes from January through February due to heating limitations.
A war memorial stands on the south side of the church grounds, honoring those lost in historical conflicts. The cemetery also preserves 15th-century gravestones after the original churchyard closed in 1874, making these stones part of the site's layered history.
