Dom St. Blasien

Dom St. Blasien is a baroque church with neoclassical elements that rises prominently in the center of St. Blasien and dominates the townscape. The building features a large dome, white stone walls, and symmetrically arranged windows and columns that make the interior light and elegant.

The church was built starting in 1768 under architect Pierre Michel d'Ixnard to replace a Benedictine monastery that had been destroyed previously. The construction took decades to complete in its final form, and it has shaped the townscape of St. Blasien ever since.
