Dinosaurierpark Münchehagen

Dinosaurierpark Münchehagen is an open-air museum in Rehburg-Loccum featuring over 300 life-sized dinosaur reconstructions positioned along a walking trail spanning several kilometers. The path winds through natural surroundings and displays creatures from different geological periods with scientific accuracy.

The site developed following the discovery of dinosaur tracks found in the region that sparked scientific interest in the area. It was established to make these findings and the story of prehistoric creatures accessible to the public.

The site serves as a learning space where visitors can examine actual fossils, bones, and eggs from different periods. Walking through, people discover how these creatures lived in various ancient environments.

The visit is best enjoyed on dry days, since the path crosses natural terrain and can become slippery after rain. Sturdy footwear and weather protection are recommended, along with allowing plenty of time for the several-kilometer walk.

One of Germany's largest dinosaur reconstructions displays a Seismosaurus of enormous size, giving visitors a sense of the scale these creatures reached. Such giant sauropods were so large that they could barely leave certain areas and subsisted mainly on plants.
