The church suffered substantial destruction during the Battle of Seelower Heights in 1945, marking a critical point in World War II.
The building, designed by Prussian architect Friedrich August Stüler, represents the evolution of religious architecture in 19th-century Brandenburg.
Religious services and community events continue to take place within the partially restored structure, which received monument status in 1983.
The church underwent multiple reconstruction phases, with the original 1414 building replaced in 1858 and later restored after 1990.
