Drachenhöhle Syrau, Show cave in Rosenbach, Germany.

Drachenhöhle Syrau is a limestone cave system with stalactites and stalagmites extending roughly 350 meters underground. The formation sits at a depth of about 16 meters and contains various stone structures throughout its passages.

Quarry master Ludwig Undeutsch found the cave during limestone mining work in 1928. This discovery eventually led to the site being opened for visitors.

Local stories connect the cave to a dragon named Justus who lived near Syrau, and this creature remains central to how people speak about and name the place.

The cave stays at a steady temperature of 8 degrees Celsius all year, so bring warm clothing for your visit. Plan for a guided tour that lasts around 40 minutes to explore the passages.

The Walhalla chamber is the largest hall in the cave, rising about 9 meters high. It holds crystal lakes inside that act like mirrors, reflecting the rock walls all around them.
