Rheydter Höhe, Summit in Mönchengladbach, Germany
Rheydter Höhe rises 133 meters above sea level and stands as the highest point in Mönchengladbach, with a total height of 64 meters from base to peak.
The hill emerged from the rubble of destroyed buildings after the 1945 bombing campaign that affected 65 percent of Mönchengladbach and Rheydt municipalities.
Local residents refer to this elevation as Monte Clamotte, reflecting its origin as a collection point for post-war debris and subsequent household waste.
The northern base features a water park, pond, municipal forest, barbecue areas, minigolf course, and café facilities for recreational activities.
The summit provides views toward the Garzweiler open-pit mine wind turbines, while remnants of past waste occasionally surface along footpaths after rainfall.
