Stadtkirche Neustrelitz, Lutheran church at Market Square, Neustrelitz, Germany.
Stadtkirche Neustrelitz is a rectangular brick building with a 52-meter tower that rises above the market square and offers views across town. Inside, a three-manual organ with 45 registers fills the space with music during services and special events.
Construction started in 1768 following plans by Johann Christian Verpoorten as part of the city's development. The distinctive tower was added between 1828 and 1831 by Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel and has defined the skyline ever since.
The altar holds a painting copy of Raphael's 'The Carrying of the Cross', created by Grand Duchess Marie as a personal gift in 1856. This artwork connects the space to important local figures and their patronage of religious spaces.
The church is located at Markt 12 and opens during warmer months, with guided tours available to visitors. Those who climb 203 steps can reach the observation platform at the top of the tower for a broad view of the town.
The organ was built in 1893 by the Grüneberg company and remains one of the few surviving instruments from this Stettin manufacturer in the region. Its original craftsmanship and sound quality make it a notable part of the building's character.
