Freiberger Christmarkt, Christmas market on Obermarkt in Freiberg, Germany

The Freiberger Christmarkt is a Christmas market on Obermarkt square featuring approximately 90 wooden stalls. Visitors find regional products, seasonal baked goods, handmade crafts, and traditional decorations available throughout the late fall and winter season.

The Freiberger Christmarkt is held in the pre-Christmas period on the Obermarkt, a square framed by medieval town houses in the mining city of Freiberg. In 2008 an MDR survey counted it among Germany's most traditional Christmas markets, and in January 2017 Freiberg won the "Best Christmas City" competition in the medium-sized towns category.

The market's stalls sell Erzgebirge Christmas decorations tied to mining: Räuchermännchen incense figures, Schwibbögen arches, and miner and angel figures. The traditional Bergparade with torches is held each year on the Saturday of the second Advent, linking the celebration to Freiberg's mining past.

The market fills the Obermarkt, a square ringed by medieval town houses, so stalls are reached on foot within a compact area. It usually opens on the last weekend of November and closes on 22 December. In 2024 it had 82 decorated huts. The Bergparade with torches takes place on the Saturday of the second Advent.
