Schloss Neideck

Schloss Neideck is a castle ruin featuring a prominent tower rising above remaining stone foundations in the center of Arnstadt's historic district. The site sits within a park setting and still clearly shows the layout of the original building complex.

During the 16th century, Count Günther von Schwarzenburg had the castle built upon the foundations of a 13th-century fortification. In the early 18th century, the building partially collapsed and was subsequently demolished.

The castle grounds host an exhibition with detailed miniature models showing Arnstadt and Erfurt Cathedral, offering insight into regional architecture. These models help visitors picture how the city and its major structures appeared in earlier times.
