Margon Arena, architectural structure
Margon Arena is a multi-purpose hall in Dresden with spacious facilities for sports and events. The main building holds about 3,000 spectators for sports matches and up to 4,500 people for concerts, while smaller halls serve activities like gymnastics, judo, and dance classes.
The sports grounds were built in the 1960s in East Germany and originally called Philipp-Müller-Stadion, while the current hall was completed in 1998 as the Bodenbacher Straße multi-purpose hall. In 2007 it received its present name Margon Arena following a sponsorship agreement with a local company.
The arena takes its name from a local company that became the main sponsor in 2007. It serves as a gathering place where athletes, families, and fans come together to watch matches and enjoy cultural events throughout the year.
The hall is well equipped with changing rooms, showers, and restrooms, while disabled parking spaces and special entrances make access easy for everyone. You can reach the arena by tram to the nearby stop or park in the large parking lot next to the building.
Next to the main hall sits a 400-meter outdoor track available year-round and lit for evening use even in winter. The complex also features field event areas, tennis courts, and other sports grounds, making it a complete sports facility beyond just indoor events.
