Modellbahnland Erzgebirge

Modellbahnland Erzgebirge is a model train exhibition in Thermalbad Wiesenbad featuring a landscape with tracks, trains, and detailed miniature scenes. The layout includes many meters of track with numerous switches and multiple trains operating at the same time.

The exhibition opened at the start of the 2000s and displays miniature versions of the upper Ore Mountains region as it appeared in the 1980s. It preserves the appearance of this area from an earlier period for visitors to see.

The display recreates recognizable mountains and valleys from the region, which visitors discover as they walk through the exhibition. Tiny houses, roads, and landscapes throughout show how people lived and organized this area.

The exhibition is open daily from Tuesday through Sunday, with longer hours during holidays, making it easy to plan a visit. You should allow enough time to explore all parts of the display at a relaxed pace and watch the trains in action.

The system is fully computer controlled and automatically shifts between night and day cycles every half hour. This means hundreds of tiny buildings and outdoor areas suddenly change appearance as lights turn on and off.
