El Toro, Wooden roller coaster in Freizeitpark Plohn, Germany.
El Toro is a wooden roller coaster at Freizeitpark Plohn in the Vogtland region of Saxony, Germany. The track runs through a series of steep drops and sharp turns, carried by a tall wooden frame that is visible from much of the park.
The ride opened in 2008 as one of the biggest additions the park had seen up to that point. It was built to draw visitors from a wider area and to give the park a new centerpiece attraction.
The ride takes its name from Spanish bullfighting traditions, which appears in the design and decorative elements surrounding the coaster. Visitors notice these cultural references through the themed decorations throughout the ride area.
There is a minimum height requirement to ride, so it is worth checking the conditions before heading to the park. Queues tend to grow on weekends and school holidays, so arriving early in the day usually helps.
Despite the park being a relatively small regional destination, El Toro stands among the tallest wooden coasters in eastern Germany at around 28 meters (92 feet). That height is unexpected for a park of this size and sets the ride apart from most others in the area.
