Markuskirche, Gothic Revival church in Reudnitz district, Leipzig, Germany
The Markuskirche was a brick church with Gothic Revival features and a prominent bell tower. Its interior was designed to accommodate worshippers with a traditional Protestant layout and religious furnishings.
The church was completed in 1884 as a replacement for a smaller chapel in the Reudnitz neighborhood. Economic pressures and maintenance challenges during the later 20th century led to its eventual demolition.
The Lutheran church contained 1,150 seats and maintained regular services until November 1973, serving as a central religious facility for Reudnitz residents.
The building no longer exists and cannot be visited today. The site where it once stood remains accessible in the Reudnitz district for those interested in local history.
The church demolition occurred in two phases: the nave destruction on February 25, 1978, followed by the tower demolition on March 4, 1978.
