St. Nikolai, Lutheran church in Harvestehude, Germany
The St. Nikolai church stands 89 meters tall with a 40-meter length and features modern architectural elements at Klosterstern in Hamburg's Harvestehude district.
The current St. Nikolai church, completed in 1962, replaced its predecessor that was destroyed during World War II bombing raids in 1943.
The interior of St. Nikolai contains an altar mosaic created by Austrian artist Oskar Kokoschka and preserves the historical Coester window from 1939.
Located in the Eimsbüttel district, the church serves as a gathering place for Lutheran services and maintains regular opening hours for visitors.
The parish made a bold decision in 1956 to build the new church at Klosterstern instead of reconstructing it at its original location.
