Kunsthalle Gießen, art gallery in Gießen, Germany

Kunsthalle Gießen is an art gallery in the city of Gießen located in a modern building on Berliner Platz. It displays only temporary exhibitions of contemporary artists and has about 450 square meters (4,800 sq ft) of exhibition space without a permanent collection.

Kunsthalle Gießen opened in June 2009 in the new Kulturrathaus building, planned from the start alongside a concert hall, the city library and the city archive. It replaced a 340 m² hall inside the Kongresshalle on the opposite side of Berliner Platz. Ute Riese was curator from 2009 to 2015; Nadia Ismail became director in May 2017. After renovation of the ventilation system and relocation of the entrance toward Berliner Platz, it reopened in April 2023.

The Kunsthalle has no collection of its own; it shows changing exhibitions of contemporary art and runs an accompanying programme for different visitor groups. Its name follows the institution's own spelling, KUNSTHALLE GIESSEN, rather than the square. In 2019 it marked ten years with numerous cooperations, for instance with the Oberhessisches Museum and the Institut für Angewandte Theaterwissenschaft.

The Kunsthalle occupies the new Kulturrathaus building; after the 2023 renovation the entrance was moved toward Berliner Platz, so visitors approach from that side. The exhibition floor covers over 400 m², and a supporting programme is offered for different visitor groups. The earlier 340 m² Kunsthalle was inside the Kongresshalle on the opposite side of Berliner Platz.

The Kunsthalle opened in June 2009 in the new Kulturrathaus, replacing a 340 m² hall in the Kongresshalle across Berliner Platz. Its first curator was Ute Riese, in office until June 2015; since May 2017 the art historian Nadia Ismail has directed it. In April 2023 it reopened after renovation, with the entrance moved toward Berliner Platz.
