Friedhof am Glockenberg is Coburg's municipal cemetery, laid out from 1847 on the upper Glockenberg hill as a trapezoidal park. A central avenue links the ducal mausoleum to the opposite entrance, crossed by a narrower transverse axis that divides the grounds into four sections. The western part opened 1847–1851; the eastern extension beyond Hinterer Glockenberg street followed from 1863 to 1869.

The western part was laid out from 1847 to 1851 on the upper Glockenberg hill as a replacement for the Salvatorfriedhof, on ground that had been orchards. The ducal building officer Vincenz Fischer-Birnbaum designed it as a park with a trapezoidal plan. The eastern section across Hinterer Glockenberg street followed from 1863, with a mortuary opened in 1865 and the enlargement completed by 1869. In 1907 Max Böhme added a mourning hall, a crematorium and an administration building.

The Jewish section, bought by the community in 1873 for 1,600 guilders, holds over 200 burials; the first was on 12 July 1874, the last in 1988. Its oldest sandstone mazewot, later marble ones, carry Hebrew and German inscriptions, and a memorial stone names 48 Coburg Jews killed under National Socialism.

The cemetery is entered from Hinterer Glockenberg, where the western section is numbered 4 and 4a and the eastern section 3a. The main axis runs from the entrance to the ducal mausoleum, crossed by a narrower transverse path that divides the grounds into four quarters. The Jewish cemetery lies at the eastern end, separated from the rest by a hedge.

The Jewish section at the eastern end was bought by the Jewish community in 1873 for 1,600 guilders, measuring 1,450 square metres; the first burial took place on 12 July 1874 and the last in 1988. A memorial stone lists 48 Coburg Jews who died under National Socialism, though the list is incomplete.
