Marienkirche Röbel, Gothic church in Röbel, Germany.
Marienkirche in Röbel is a brick church built in Brick Gothic style, featuring a tower that reaches about 58 meters high. The interior displays a late Romanesque choir section with intricate cross-ribbed vaulting.
Construction started in 1235 when Nicholas I of Werle founded it on a site that once held a Wendish temple in the older settlement of Altröbel. This marked the replacement of an earlier sacred building with a new structure.
The interior displays a neo-Gothic altarpiece from 1852 and a pulpit decorated with sculpted figures of biblical prophets and apostles. These ornamental works shape how the space looks and feels to visitors today.
The church is open to visitors from May through September, and you can climb the tower for views over Röbel and the surrounding area. It is helpful to check opening times before planning your visit.
The organ was built by Johann Jochen Schmidt and sits in a neo-Gothic case with 24 registers that were modified several times during the 1800s. These alterations reflect how musical preferences and techniques changed across generations.
