Galopprennbahn Niederrad, Pferderennbahn in Frankfurt/Main

Galopprennbahn Niederrad is a horse racing track in Frankfurt covering approximately 32 hectares with a distinctive left-turn course layout that sets it apart from most German racecourses. The facility includes three practice tracks: a covered natural surface track, a sand track, and a grass track, plus a wooded training area that provides varied terrain for horse preparation.

The first horse races in Frankfurt took place in 1863, with the official opening of the racecourse in 1865. Following severe damage during World War II bombing in 1944-1945, the facility was rebuilt in 1946 and became a major venue for thoroughbred racing in Germany.

The name Niederrad refers to the Frankfurt district where the racecourse is located. For generations, this venue served as a gathering place where the city's residents came together to experience horse racing as a social event and community tradition.

The racecourse is easily accessible by public transportation, though arriving early on race days is advisable. Parking is available nearby, but visitors should expect increased traffic during racing events.

The renowned Hungarian thoroughbred Kincsem won here in 1871 and remained unbeaten throughout her racing career, earning her place in international racing history at this venue. The grandstand built in 1948 was later demolished, but the heritage-protected entrance gate remains a testament to the site's former significance.
