Graf-Aswin-Kaserne, Military barracks in Bogen, Germany.
Graf-Aswin-Kaserne is a military barracks in Bogen, in the Bavarian Forest region of Germany, located along Bayerwaldstraße. The site includes administrative buildings and training areas set in a gently rolling landscape with patches of woodland nearby.
The barracks were founded in 1958 and initially housed units that later became part of Panzergrenadierbrigade 11 Bayerwald. Over the following decades, the site grew into one of the main military installations in Lower Bavaria.
The name commemorates Count Aswin von Bogen, a medieval nobleman from the region whose legacy is woven into local identity. Walking around the complex, visitors can sense the connection between the military site and the area's historical roots.
The complex can be seen from outside along Bayerwaldstraße, but entry is not open to the general public due to active military use. No general visit is possible without official authorization.
Pioneer units based here have taken part in disaster relief operations abroad, earning recognition for their work after natural disasters in other countries. This role goes well beyond standard military duties and is a lesser known part of the site's story.
