Stollen

The Willhelmine mine extends 100 meters in length and 50 meters in width, situated at an elevation of 256 meters in Bavaria.

First documented in 1542, this mine supplied copper, iron, and manganese resources to the region for several centuries through systematic extraction.

The site gained recognition as number 23 among Bavaria's finest geotopes in 2003, highlighting the regional mining traditions and geological formations.

Members of the Copper Mine Willhelmine Sommerkahl Association maintain the site and develop sections of the 23-meter level for visitor access.

The underground passages display multiple rock formations and mining technologies, preserving the industrial methods used throughout different periods.
