Hainigturm, observation tower near Lauterbach
The Hainigturm is a 21.2-meter-tall stone observation structure near Lauterbach in the Vogelsbergkreis region. From the top, it offers views across the rolling landscape with its forests, valleys, and surrounding countryside.
The original structure was built from wood before being completely replaced with a stone building in 1907. This transformation made the tower permanent and has shaped the local landscape ever since.
The tower serves as a meeting place where local people gather for celebrations and community events throughout the year. Visitors come here to share in festivals and mark important occasions together.
An internal staircase leads up to the viewing platform, with parking available at the base. The climb requires some effort but is manageable for most visitors.
The tower sits exactly on the boundary between Lauterbach and Angersbach, serving as a geographical landmark for both communities. This border location makes it a special point in the region's identity.
