Hauptgefechtsstand Tessin, Military command post in Drüsewitz, Germany
Hauptgefechtsstand Tessin is an underground military bunker near Drüsewitz in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, built to serve as a command post for the East German navy. The structure spans several levels below ground and was built to remain operational even under extreme conditions.
The facility was commissioned in 1974 by the German Democratic Republic as a navy command post. After German reunification, the bunker was filled with liquid concrete in 1993 and has remained sealed ever since.
The facility served as a hidden nerve center during the Cold War, known only to a select few. It played a key role in coordinating naval communications across the Baltic region.
The bunker sits in a forested area that is now split among private landowners, and all entrances have been sealed with concrete. There is nothing to see on the surface and the site cannot be visited.
The post operated under the code name 'Auxiliary Message Center 34' and was known to only a small number of people. Many residents of the surrounding villages had no idea for decades that anything lay beneath the ground near them.
