Haus Busch, Manor house in Hagen, Germany
Haus Busch is a manor house in Hagen built around 1700 from a medieval residential tower and surrounded by an English landscape garden. The two-story stone structure combines historic walls with later additions and sits on expansive grounds.
The estate arose around 1700 through renovation of a medieval defensive tower and expanded under Johann Gisbert von Syberg. It served as a gathering place during the Napoleonic period and remained a private manor until closure.
From 1974 to 2019, the building served as a journalism school offering training programs for media professionals across the region. This use shaped it as an important center for communications education for several generations.
The house has been closed since 2019 and is not open to the public, so check its current status before visiting. The exterior of the property can be viewed from outside, but access to the interior and gardens is not permitted.
The von Syberg family occupied the estate from 1350 and became one of the wealthiest noble families in the region. Their roots lay at Höhenburg Siburg before settling at Haus Busch.
